Maren Morris Comes Out As Bisexual

Country music just got a little queerer! Maren Morris, who was formerly a fierce LGBTQ+ ally, has officially joined the team.

In a Pride post on Instagram, the five-time CMA award winner came out as bisexual with photos of her holding a Pride flag and a caption, “happy to be the B in LGBTQ+.”

Her comment section was flooded with fellow queer artists supporting her, including MUNA, G Flip, and Allison Pointher.

“HAPPY PRIDE!!!!! thanks for being an inspiration and what a special pride this one is,” Pointher commented.

Morris has never been afraid to use her social media platform to stand up for the LGBTQ+ community. In 2022, she called out Jason Aldean’s wife’s transphobic comments, commenting “It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie.”

While appearing as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, she gave a heartfelt message to the queens, as well as any queer person watching the show.

“Coming from country music and its relationship with LGBTQ+ members, I just want to say I’m sorry. And I love you guys for making me feel like a brave voice in country music. So, I just thank you guys so much for inspiring me,” she said.

While talking with Ellen in 2021, she shouted out T.J. Osbourne of The Brothers Osbourne, who came out as gay earlier that year.

“I hope that him having the bravery to even do that has made a few more people that love country music that are gay feel like they have a home there too,” she said. “I’m so proud of him. He was one of my first friends when I moved to Nashville eight years ago. He’s just so talented, so kind. For him to put it all out there is just, I’m not a sliver of that brave so I’m really proud of T.J.,” she said.

Morris and The Brothers Osbourne teamed up together to create the song “All My Favorite People” in 2022, with the lyrics, “It is who it is, and we love who we love.”

Morris is recently single after filing for divorce from her husband, Ryan Hurd, in October 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. They met in 2015, got married in 2018, and had their son Hayes in 2020.
